Building permits in the City of Waterloo continues to break previous year records topping out at $110.1 million for the City's fiscal year ending June 30, 2006.

The City is optimistic about the 2006-2007 fiscal year... believing that $150 million in building permit value is probable given planned commercial development expected in the City.

Already, the planned Isle of Capri Casino has contributed $60 million in building permit value along with ConAgra Foods Inc. expansion of their pudding plant at $15.5 million. Retail and housing developments have contributed to construction permits five times higher during the City's first quarter 2006-2007 fiscal year over the same period the previous year.
